Jackie Joyner

Jackie Joyner, a beloved member of the community, passed away on September 12, 2023 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 71 years, 11 months, and 10 days. Born on October 2, 1951 in Jackson, TN to the late Oscar and Lueela Williams Joyner, Jackie's life was filled with love, joy, and cherished memories.

On June 6, 1979, Jackie entered into a marriage that would bring him immeasurable happiness. He was united in marriage to Violet Russom, his devoted wife and partner for over four decades.

For many years, Jackie dedicated his time and hard work to Tennessee Credit Management. However, it was outside of work where he found true passion and fulfillment. An enthusiastic coon hunter both locally and competitively, Jackie's favorite coon dog was an English Red Tick named Hut. His dedication to this sport brought him countless hours of excitement and camaraderie.

In addition to his love for coon hunting, Jackie also enjoyed watching baseball games. Whether it be cheering for the Cowley County baseball team or supporting other teams from the comfort of his home, baseball ignited a sense of enthusiasm within him. Furthermore, he cherished peaceful moments spent fishing and reminisced about his younger years playing fast-pitch softball as a skilled catcher. He loved all sports including following and watching the Memphis Grizzlies.

A faithful member of the Curtis Hill Church of God of Prophecy in Bethel Springs, TN, his devotion to his faith was an anchor throughout his life.

One trait that everyone who knew Jackie can attest to is his unwavering love for coon hunting. However, above all else, his greatest joy in life resided in his two boys: Will and Tyler. Their presence brought him immense happiness, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Jackie leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his loving wife, Violet Russom Joyner of Bethel Springs, TN; his two sons, Will Joyner of Selmer, TN and Tyler Joyner and wife Devon of Selmer, TN; as well as his two brothers, Paul Joyner of Jackson, TN and E.O. Joyner of Finger, TN. Additionally, he will be fondly remembered by special nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jackie was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Joyner, as well as two brothers: J.L. Joyner and Charles Joyner.

As we mourn the loss of Jackie Joyner, let us also celebrate the beautiful life he lived. May his spirit forever inspire us to find joy in the things we love most and cherish our loved ones with all our hearts.
