Jack R. Payne, 64, of Middleton, died Sunday, November 20, 2005 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The husband of Carolyn Chambers Payne, who survives, he was a customer service supervisor with Frontier Airlines for 27 years, Continental Airlines for 2 years and Trinity Transportation for 5 years. Mr. Payne was born September 18, 1941 in Walker County, Alabama, son of the late Sylvester Allen Payne and Lois Gibson Payne. He lived in Farmington, New Mexico for 10 years, in the Memphis area for 7 years, in Middleton from 1976 to 1985 and in Midland for over 6 years before returning to Middleton to make his home. Mr. Payne was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was an ordained deacon.
Services were 11 am Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at Calvary Baptist Church in Middleton with Jack Davis, John Hunter and Shane Scott officiating. Burial was in Middleton City Cemetery. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar were in charge of arrangements.
In addition to his wife, whom he married December 23, 1961, he is survived by one son, Roger A. Payne of Chicago; one grandson, Roger A. Payne, Jr. of Knoxville; two sisters, Lena Morgan of Addison, Ala. and Jeanette Haney of Arley, Ala.; one step-sister, Francilla Hopper of Jasper, Ala. and one brother, Ed Payne of Hartselle, Ala.
