Jack D. Mathews of Selmer, Tennessee, was born on December 5, 1932, in Vina, Alabama, the son of the Late Lonnie Mathews and Maggie Tyler Mathews. He was united in marriage to Betty Fields on December 25, 1951. He was a member of the Baptist church. Mr. Mathews was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War and a retired Tool and Die Maker. He was a member of the American Legion and the Department of Veterans Affairs. He loved doing woodworking as a hobby.Mr. Mathews departed this life on Thursday, October 30, 2008, in Selmer at the age of 75 Years, 10 Months, and 25 Days.Survivors are his wife of nearly 57 years Betty Mathews of Selmer; two daughters, Tammy Howell and husband Danny of Hornsby, Tennessee, and Sandy Robinson and husband Eddie of Bethel Springs, Tennessee; a son, Terry Mathews of Selmer; six grandchildren, Mathew Howell, Zachary Howell, Tucker Robinson, Houston Robinson, Erica Mathews, Ashley Partain; a sister, Eva Mathews of Birmingham, Alabama.A host of other relatives and friends.
