Jack L. Hazelrigg died peacefully at McNairy Regional Hospital on Januay 14, 2008 after a short illness.
He was born in Obion, TN on January 26, 1923. He graduated from Union City High School in 1941 and then joined the Air Force. He was a veteran of World War II and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was reactivated in the the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and served a year in South Korea.
Mr. Hazelrigg began his career outfitting business offices and selling office furniture in Memphis at S.C. Toof and Company, then at Holiday Inns, and retired from Office Furniture Wholesale. He attended the University of Memphis, majoring in sales and business.
He was an active, lifelong United Methodist and a current member of First United Methodist in Selmer, TN. He was a Mason for more than 40 years. He loved bird watching and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Hazelrigg was preceded in death by his parents Grover and Ella Black Hazelrigg, 1 brother, 3 sisters and a grandson, Daniel Austin. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Juanita M. Hazelrigg.
He is survived by a son, Milton C. Hazelrigg of Lakewood, CO; daughter, Vanita H. Austin and husband Danny of Guys, TN; granddaughter, Lesley H. Parker and husband Rob of Germantown, TN; grandson, John C. Austin and wife Katie of Memphis, TN; great granddaughters, Zoey Grace Parker and Alli Claire Austin.
