Jack F. Hannis, 85, of Bolivar, died Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at Memphis Healthcare & Rehabilitation.



The widower of Juanita Maxwell Hannis, who died January 19, 1987, and Catherine Watson Hannis, who died in October 1977, he was a retired construction foreman. Mr. Hannis was born February 10, 1920 in Bolivar, son of Samuel David Hannis and Hanna Donaldson Hannis. He lived in Tampa, Florida for 45 years before returning to Bolivar in February 2005. Mr. Hannis served in the National Guard for 13 years and while in Florida, he worked with the literacy council and delivered meals for the senior citizens center.



Services were 2 PM Sunday, September 11, 2005 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel with Mike Delisle. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Bolivar.



Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Jeu of Memphis and Carlene Cantrell of Huntsville, Tex.; step-son, Gene Hudson of Laurel, Miss.; step-daughter, Cecelia McCormick of Bay Springs, Miss.; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by step-son, Rick Hudson.
