J. D. Kelley

J. D. Kelley of Savannah, TN, formerly of Clifton, TN was born May 9, 1935 in Linden, TN ,the son of the late Willie Lee and Carrie Lee Hickerson Kelley. He was united in marriage to Rachel Hime in 1965 and she preceded him in death on November 7, 2007.

Mr. Kelley had worked as a pipe line installer, deck hand, commercial fisherman, farmer and gardner and was baptized in 2012 and served in the United States Navy.

He departed this life on Monday, August 1, 2016 at ECM Hospital in Florence, Alabama at the age of 81 Years, 2 Months, 23 Days.

He is survived by a grandson, Gregory Joshua Kelley of Tulsa, OK; a sister, Nettie McCutcheon of Lawrenceburg, TN; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Kelley was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Allen Kelley.

Services will be Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Billy Wright, David Eliff, Ricky Mitchell and Terry Baker officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the Steele Cemetery, Clifton, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be Bill Martin, Terry Martin, Joshua Eaves, Wayne Eliff, Brad Culp and Travis O'neal with Ray Pope and John Harley Scott serving as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be Friday, August 5, 2016 from 6 pm to 9 pm and Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 8 am until service time at the funeral home.
