Resident of Olive Hill, TN J. C. Hanks, Sr.was born in Dyer County, Tennessee on March 22, 1925 the son of the late Calvin and Esther Cooper Hanks.On July 14, 1946 he was united in marriage to Annie Lavera Childress, who preceded him in death on March 1, 2006.Mr. Hanks had worked for Jones Manufacturing in Covington, Tennessee for 40 years as a shift manager. He moved to Olive Hill, Tennessee in 1993. He loved to hunt raccoon, rabbit, and squirrel. Mr. Hanks departed this life on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the age of 83 years, 6 months, 26 days.Mr. Hanks is survived by 2 sons: John C. Hanks, Jr. of Olive Hill, Tennessee and Donald L. Hanks of Memphis, Tennessee; 2 daughters: Joyce H. Moore of Rosemark, Tennessee and Judith D. Hanks of Olive Hill, Tennessee; a sister: Betty Garner of Benton Harbor, Michigan; 2 brothers: Bobby Hanks and Fred Hanks both of Dyersburg, Tennessee; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Hanks was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Amogene Jones and Lorene Richardson; a brother: Ernest Hanks.Services will be held on October 21, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah, Tennessee, with Harrell D. Conaway officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens at Savannah, Tennessee
