Mr. Brooks was the retired owner/operator of Brooks Auto Service in Bolivar for 40 years. He was born Feb. 23, 1934 in Bolivar, son of the late A. Hall and Katherine Blalock Brooks and lived all of his life here. A 1952 graduate of Bolivar Central High School, he served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a former city councilman and former volunteer fireman and one of the founding members of the Bolivar Jaycees. He was active in the Bolivar Rotary and was a member of the Hardeman County Arts Council. Mr. Brooks was also a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals and served on the board of Whiteville Vocational Technical School. He was an active deacon at Bolivar First Baptist Church and participated in the 'Keenagers'. His survivors include his wife of 54 years, Anita Bryant Brooks; a daughter and son in law, Karen and Tim Moss of Bolivar; two sons and a daughter in law, Kenneth Hall Brooks of Boston, Mass., Kevin and Cathy Brooks of Bolivar; two sisters and a brother in law, Jeannette Brooks Priebe and Victor Priebe of Louisville, Ky. and Joanne Brooks Johnson of Bolivar; five grandchildren, Susan Ginn Howell, Sarah Ginn, Curt Moss, Stephen and Heather Brooks; his mother in law, Roberta Irwin Bryant of Bolivar; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, David Ray Ginn.
