J. C. Flatt

J.C. Flatt, Sr.



was born on June 26, 1920 in Hardin County, Tennessee the son of the late Henry Dee and Bessie Rodgers Flatt.



On April 29, 1939 he was united in marriage to the former Thelma Childers, who preceded him in death on October 7, 1992. Mr. Flatt was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He lived in Shiloh, Tennessee and also in Milan, Tennessee for a while. Mr. Flatt worked in construction with Pettigrew and Chandler for many years. He helped with the construction of the Tennessee River Pulp and Paper Company, the Yellow Creek facility and the Tennessee River Bridge at Pickwick Dam. Mr. Flatt also worked at the Milan Arsenal. He was a member of the Shiloh Methodist Church, the Shiloh / Pickwick Lions Club, the Masonic Lodge and the Carpenters Local in Corinth, Mississippi.



He departed this life on September 15, 2006 Savannah Health Care Center in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 20 days.



Mr. Flatt is survived by a son, J.C. Flatt, Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Shiloh, Tennessee;

5 grandchildren: Ronny Flatt, Amy Davis, Nona Stultz, Anita Hollis and Michael Gray;

9 great-grandchildren: Jacob Worley, Casey Flatt, Brandi Stultz, Cory Stultz,

Justin Hollis, Andrew Hollis, Abby Gray, Allison Gray and Malari Davis;

and one sister, Beulah Johnson of Counce, Tennessee.



In addition to his parents and wife, Thelma Flatt, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Jane Gray and 3 sisters: Euthia Dancer, Della Smith and Earlene Crabtree.
