J. C. Pitts

J. C. Pitts was born February 7, 1923 in Clifton, TN the son of the late Jim and Annie Davis Pitts. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pitts was preceded in death by a step-son, Roger Wayne Pitts; a brother, Edward Pitts; two sisters, Delia Bell Reeves and Mary Lizzie Pulley. On November 17, 1955 he married Imogene Staggs Pitts. She preceded him November 12, 1986 after almost 31 years of marriage. For most of those years J.C. and Imogene made their home on Beech Creek. Mr. Pitts, a sawmill worker, was formerly employed at Skelton Lumber Company in Waynesboro.



He is survived by three sons, Jerry Wayne Pitts of Clifton, TN, David Pitts and Marshall Pitts both of Waynesboro, TN, three daughters, Dianne Pitts and Dorothy Brewer both of Collinwood, TN, and Judy Miller of Smith County, TN,

seven grandchildren, Chris Pitts, Mark Whitney, Chuck Whitney, Millie Miller, Michelle Miller, Dakota Pitts, and Kelsey Pitts, great-grandchild, Mason Whitney, a brother, Cecil Pitts of Clifton, TN, and a sister, Hazel Turner of Clifton, TN,

several nieces, nephews, and friends.



Services will be Sunday, June 9, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Old Union Church in Clifton, Tennessee, with Billy Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Highland United Methodist Church Cemetery near Lawrence County with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.



Pallbearers are Chris Pitts, Dakota Pitts, Mark Whitney, Jeffery Reeves, Adam Brewer, Chuck Whitney, and Mickey Miller.
