J. S. Boyd was born on January 12, 1938 in Wayne County, Tennessee, the son of the late Ervin Franklin and Elma Elizabeth Dedrick Boyd. On May 30, 1968, he was united in marriage to Bobbie Jean House, who survives.
Mr. Boyd worked as a foreman for Brown Shoe Company in Selmer, Tennessee for 38 years and for Spectrum in Selmer, Tennessee for 10 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Adamsville, Tennessee and a member of Adamsville Free and Accepted Masons. J. S. enjoyed gardening, watching University of Tennessee Volunteers football games, fishing, hunting, and most of all spending time with his family and granddaughter.
J. S. Boyd departed this life on August 8, 2019 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 81 years, 6 months, and 27 days.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Jean House Boyd of Adamsville, Tennessee; son, Joel Steven Boyd of Adamsville, Tennessee; sister, Joan Boyd Northcutt and her husband David, of Corinth, Mississippi; granddaughter, Bailey Jewel Boyd; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ervin Boyd, Jr., Roy O'Neal Boyd, Curtis Boyd, and Billy Joe Boyd.
