Irene Barrier

Irene Barrier departed this life on Sunday, November 18, 2012, at the age of 91 years, 2 months, 7 days.



Mrs. Barrier was born in Lauderdale County, Alabama on September 11, 1921, the daughter of the late Harvey Lee and Ida Webb Franklin. On May 7, 1938, she was united in marriage to Herman D. Barrier, who preceded her in death on September 5, 1988.



Mrs. Barrier had lived in South Bend, Indiana previous to Savannah, Tennessee. She was a member of the Walnut Grove Church of Christ; loved to garden, can, quilt and fish. She was possibly "the best" biscuit maker in Hardin County.



She is survived by her children, Ruby Sandusky, Lula (Belle) Corley and husband Larry, Franklin (Sonny) Barrier and wife Sandra, Ruth (Poly) Trivett and husband Houston, Diane Austin and husband James H., Ronnie Barrier and wife Val all of Savannah, Tennessee, Jerry (Joe) Barrier and wife Charlotte of South Bend, Indiana, Roy Barrier and wife Donna of Mishawaka, Indiana, Herman Barrier, Jr. and wife Joyce of Mishawaka, Indiana, David Cossey and wife Linda of South Carolina; 26 grandchildren; 50 great great grandchildren; 31 great great grandchildren; sister, Kathleen Adkins of Tyler, Texas; brothers, H.L. Franklin of Dallas, Texas, Joel Franklin of Kemp, Texas and Larry Franklin of Malakoff, Texas.



In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene Franklin, Webb Franklin, Charles Franklin, Jesse Franklin and Mack Franklin; sisters, Maxene Franklin and Paulene Harville; grandchildren, Mark Sandusky, Patricia Barrier, Jeannie Trivett and David Cossey, Jr. ; great grandchildren, Jeffrey Sandusky, Adam Vickery and Andrew Vickery; a great great grandchild.
