Ira Roy Vickers, 86, of Middleton, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at McNairy Health Center in Selmer.
The husband of Lula Mae Brown Vickers, who survives, he was a farmer. Mr. Vickers was born July 8, 1919 in Middleton, son of the late William Wright “Tip†Vickers and Ruth Hanna Hicks Vickers and lived here all of his life. He was a member of Porter’s Creek Baptist Church.
Services were 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2006 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Middleton chapel with Adrian Knipper officiating. Burial was in Reaves Cemetery near Middleton.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three daughters, Helen Woods and Carolyn Yearwood, both of Middleton and Ruth Ann Cox of Selmer; two sons, Buddy Vickers and James Curtis Vickers; one step-daughter, Gladys Bryant; and two brothers, Burton and Arthur Vickers, all of Middleton; 11 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Vickers; a grandson, Wayne Vickers; a great grandson, Juston Bradley Yearwood; three brothers, Parnell, Alfred and Jimmy Vickers and one sister, Ida Mae Pipkin.
