Ira Hershell Smith

He was born in Decaturville and grew up at Jacks Creek, the son of the late Ira Smith and Pearlie Lunsford Smith Benson. He was raised by his mother Pearlie Benson and step father Ed Benson. He farmed as a young man and worked with Coady Construction at Jacks Creek. He was married to Needie Hart in 1946 and they made their home at Jacks Creek.

He is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Frye (Tom) of Jackson and Lisa Mathes (Mark) of Garland, TX; three grandchildren, Tiffany and Tyler Frye and Ashley Mathes ; and a sister Euda Garner of Memphis.
