Iona Caroline Denton

Iona Caroline Pulley Denton of Waynesboro, TN, formerly of Clifton, TN, was born April 22, 1913 in Wayne County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late John Bell and Susan Sanderson Pulley. She was united in marriage to James Harold Denton on September 27, 1948 and he preceded her in death on December 2, 1999.Mrs. Denton was a retired factory worker and was a member of the Pentecostal Church.She departed this life on Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Wayne Care Nursing Home in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 96 Years, 18 Days. She is survived by a brother, Hiram Starling (Red) Pulley of Waynesboro, TN; several nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Denton was preceded in death by four brothers, Reubin, Alfred Paul, Joseph, and Gavin Pulley. Services will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Billy Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Steele Cemetery, Clifton, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County directing. Visitation will be Monday, May 11, 2009 from 5:30 pm to 9 pm and Tuesday, May 12, 2009 from 8 am until service time at the funeral home.
