Ida Mae Lockard

May 19, 1930 — February 18, 2025

Ida Mae Lockard was born on May 19, 1930 in Savannah, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Frank and Gertie Copeland Wilkerson.

On September 11, 1950, she was united in marriage to Joel Lockard, who preceded his wife in death on October 29, 1994.

Ida was a beacon of joy and inspiration to many. Her infectious laughter and immense love for life touched everyone around her. Living life to the fullest was her mantra, and she embodied it through her vibrant passions and hobbies. Ida loved and cherished all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Visits from her family and friends were among some of the best memories she had.

One of Ida's greatest loves was dancing. She had a remarkable ability to turn any dance hall into her personal stage. Whether at the VFW or various other venues, she never missed an opportunity to mingle with friends and meet new ones. Her love for dance was contagious, and she often inspired others to join in the fun, creating a tapestry of cherished memories.

Ida's connection to music went beyond the dance floor. She adored playing the guitar, strumming her favorite tunes, and losing herself in the melody. Her love for music was a reflection of her spirited nature and her ability to find joy in the simple things.

Gardening was another of Ida's cherished hobbies, and she took immense pride in her beautiful collection of flowers. Her garden was a vibrant mix of colors and fragrances, featuring everything from Moss Roses to Easter Lilies, Water Lilies to the intriguing Marvel of Peru, also known as 4 orclock flowers. Each bloom was a testament to her dedication and care.

Ida also enjoyed the tranquility of fishing. Trips to Pickwick Marina were a favorite, where she would patiently wait for a bite, savoring the peace and quiet. Fishing was her escape, a way to unwind and connect with nature, reflecting her calm and patient demeanor. Collector of Memories

Another unique hobby of Ida's was collecting refrigerator magnets. These little souvenirs were more than just decorations; they were tokens of love from friends and family who traveled across the United States and beyond. Her refrigerator was a colorful mosaic of places and memories, each magnet telling a story of its own.

Idals legacy is one of joy, love, and a zest for life. She inspired those around her to embrace their passions and live with an open heart. Her memory continues to dance in the hearts of those who knew her, a testament to a life beautifully lived.
