I. H. Leatherwood was born August 2, 1928 in McNairy County, Tennessee the son of the late William Marion and Eva Myrtle Parmely Leatherwood.He was united in marriage to Nell Cummings on August 5, 1950.Mr. Leatherwood begin working at the sawmill at the age of 11, working for several sawmills including Knights, Lockes and James Burns Sawmill in Corinth, MS. He loved to go fishing,enjoyed music and played the guitar. He was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist church in Ripley, Mississippi. He honorably served his country during the Korean conflict in the United States Army.Mr. Leatherwood departed this life on April 14, 2010 in Tupelo, Mississippi at the age of 81 Years, 8 Months, 12 Days. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nell Leatherwood of Ripley, MS; a daughter, Janet Kay Brock and husband Arlin Wayne of Ripley, MS; a son, Anthony Quinn Leatherwood and wife Debbie of Ripley, MS; 8 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews and friends.In addition to his parents, Mr. Leatherwood was preceded in death by four sisters, Myrtle Kennedy, Lula Leatherwood, Evelyn Sweat, Alline King; four brothers, Melvin, Joe, John, and Ed Leatherwood.
