I. D. Jenningswas born in Cerro Gordo, Tennessee on September 17, 1917 the son of the late John Porter and Ann-Gela Hawkins Jennings.On October 25, 1940 he was united in marriage to Bertie Russell, who preceded him in death on March 6, 2006.During his life, Mr. Jennings had worked as a painter and was a member of the Painter's Union. He had previously worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps. Mr. Jennings loved to fish and he enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends at the Toll House. He loved his entire family. He had previously lived in Memphis, Tennessee and was a member of the Southside Baptist Church.Mr. Jennings departed this life on April 7, 2008 at the age of 90 years,6 months, 21 days.He is survived by his daughter: Shirley Jennings Wilson of Hickory, North Carolina; 1 sister: Edna Jennings Butler of Reelfoot Lake, Tennessee; 1 brother: Jake Jennings of Olive Branch, Mississippi; 3 grandchildren and5 great-grandchildren.In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Pete Jennings and Johnny Hawkins.
