Hugh F. "Freddie" Miller, 78, of Toone, died early Saturday morning January 20, 2007 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.
The widower of Louise “Sissie†Dillard Miller, who died November 13, 2002 after 51 years of marriage, he retired as a TVA Registered Land Surveyor with 39 years service. Mr. Miller was the son of the late William Julius and Olivia Burger Miller and lived in Toone since the early 1950’s and in Lakeland for the past 3 ½ years. He was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church serving as deacon, trustee and Sunday School teacher. A Mason for 50 years, he served in the US Army as a corporal in the 82nd Airborne, Paratrooper division just after WWII.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy and his wife, Janet of Lakeland; one sister, Vida Mae Rucker and brother, James Miller, both of Etowah, TN; two grandchildren, Catherine Ann Miller, James Thomas Miller and three sisters-in-law, Mary Katherine Caldwell, Lillie Cavazos and Margie Vales. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Nora Lee Tatum and Nina Majors; four brothers, Harry, Charlie, Hubert and John Miller.
