Hugh John Vernon Black Sr. was born January 12, 1930 in Kilbarchon, Scotland, the son of the late Thomas and Helen Taggart Black. He was united in marriage to Shirley Grandinetti Black who preceded him in death. Mr. Black was the owner/operator of Black's Electric Motor Repair. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners in Trenton, NJ, the president of the Rotary Club in Milbridge, ME, and a Jehovah Witness in Steuben, ME. Mr. Black departed this life on July 25, 2022 in Collinwood, TN at the age of 92 years, 6 months, and 13 days.
He is survived by a son, Hugh John Black Jr. and wife Margaret H. of Collinwood, TN; a daughter, Janet B. Mangiaracina and husband Joseph of Ringoes, NJ; three stepsons, John Coleman IV and wife Sharon, Gregory Coleman and wife Toni, Matthew Coleman and partner Dawn, all of NJ; a stepdaughter, Kimberly Sibert and husband John of NJ; three sisters, Nan Brown and husband Simpson of Pinehurst, NC, Jean Stoll of Brick, NJ, and Ellenor Taggart and husband George of Ship Bottom of NJ; three grandchildren, Lauren Black, Ian Black, and Joseph Mangiaracina; eleven step grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, Joseph Valentino and Carter Broa.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Black was preceded in death by a grandson, Alec Mangiaracina.
At the family request, Mr. Black will be cremated. Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
