Hu Allen Smith

Henderson: Hu Allen Smith, age 73, died Thursday morning, September 11, 2008 at Jackson General Hospital.
Mr. Smith was born and reared in Madison County, near Pinson, the son of the late Horace E. and Ola Lester Smith. He graduated from Pinson High School in 1952. He entered the United States Air Force and served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars as a mechanical crew chief. He remained in the Air Force until he retired in 1972. He had made his home near Henderson since that time and had worked for Boise Cascade and later ITT Grinnell until 1981. He enjoyed raising vegetables on his farm. He was preceded in death by his wife Edna Ruth Whisenant Smith in 2001.
He is survived by a son Hu Allen Smith, Jr. and wife Patricia of Olive Branch, MS and a daughter Karen Smith Mason of Lilburn, GA and five grandchildren: Randi Mason, Jenni Mason, Haile Smith, Kay Kay Smith, and Meskelo Smith.
He also is survived by a brother Melford Lester of Henderson and a sister Ursal Maness of Jackson. He was preceded by a sister Eugenia Wilson.
