was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 7, 1927 the son of the late Howard and Cyrena Freeman Austell.
Mr. Austell was united in marriage to the former Frankie Hopper, who survives. He retired from the U.S. Army and also worked for a time as a jailer at the Hardin County Jail.
He departed this life on November 28, 2006 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 21 days.
Mr. Austell is survived by his wife, Frankie Austell of Savannah, Tennessee and a daughter, Susan Austell of New Orleans, Louisiana.
