Homer Lee Pipkin, 76, of Middleton, died Tuesday morning, March 21, 2006 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Mr. Pipkin was a member of New Bethany Church of Christ where he enjoyed serving as song director. He retired from Tennessee Gas Pipleine, after 36 years of service as a Corrosion Technician. As a lifelong resident of Hardeman County, he attended Middleton High School and served on several local commissions, including the Board of Directors of the City of Middleton Planning Commission, the Porter’s Creek Watershed Commission, Middleton Lion’s Club and the Bolivar General Hospital Board of Directors. He also served as Sergeant First Class in the National Guard.
Mr. Pipkin was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Ordra Pipkin of Middleton. He is survived by his wife, Edith Vincent Pipkin; three daughters, Barbara Baker and Amelia Carter of Middleton and Betsy Pipkin Bonds of Germantown, TN; and four grandchildren, Brandon Earnest, Wade Bonds, Adaline Carter and Halbert Carter. Mr. Pipkin is also survived by one brother, Jimmie Pipkin of Middleton, TN.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm, Friday March 24, 2006 at Shackelford Funeral Home in Bolivar with burial in Reaves Cemetery near Middleton.
