Homer Mayfield

April 2, 1923 — October 12, 2008

Henderson, TN: Homer Renard Mayfield, age 85, died October 12, 2008 at his home.

He was born in the Harmony Community of Chester County and had spent most of his life in that same community, the son of the late Fritz Burgler and Lilly Augustas Johnson Mayfield. He was married to Martha Sue (Jean) Fowler in 1944. They made their home in the Harmony Community. Mr. Mayfield worked as a carpenter and painter in both Chester and Madison Counties. He was well known for raising fruit and vegetables and sharing them in the community. He was a member of the Finger Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Fowler Mayfield of Henderson; two sons, Harold R. Mayfield and wife Virginia of Jackson and Rayford Mayfield and wife Carolyn of Henderson; two grandchildren, Brandi Michelle (Mayfield) Whitman and husband Jeremy and Jenna Maria (Mayfield) Cupples and husband Benjamin; four great grandchildren, Madelyn Katie Whitman, Jackson Whitman, Kase Cupples and Auburn Ward; two brothers, Walter Mayfield and Floyd Mayfield both of Henderson.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Robert, Raymond, Roy, Garland and Buford Mayfield and two sisters, Ruby Patterson Rummage and Ruth Patterson.
