Homer Junior Cheek

Homer Junior Cheek, aged 80, of Iron City, TN, passed away at his home on November15, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 7, 1944, he was the son of the late Homer Dillard and Ruby Elizabeth Risner Cheek.

On September 22, 1972, Homer was united in marriage to Willodean Lafan, sharing a life filled with love and companionship. He dedicated many years of his life working at Murray Ohio in Lawrenceburg, TN, where he contributed his hard work in the Press Room until his retirement.

A devoted member of the Waynesboro Church of Christ, Homer found comfort and community in his faith. Outside of his work and church, he had a passion for life that included coon hunting under the stars, cheering for Tennessee football, and enjoying precious moments during family gatherings. He had a soft spot for old cars and the camaraderie of cruise-ins, where he could connect with others who shared his interests.

He is survived by his wife, Willodean Lafan Cheek; sons, Byron Cheek, and Timothy Wade Cheek; brothers, Manson Lee Cheek, and Danny Lewis Cheek; sister, Carolyn Ruth Stephenson; and grandchildren, Alana Cheek, Bentley Cheek, Mallory Anderson, McKenzie Luster, Josh James, Tyler James, and Ashley Lacey. 

In addition to his parents, Homer was preceded in death by his brothers, William Warren Cheek, and Curtis Wade Cheek.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm service time at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN.

Funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN with Gregg Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Iron City, TN with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
