Hershel Taft Melson

Hershel Taft Melson was born on August 1, 1938 in Wayne County, Tennessee, the son of the late Marvin Taft and Claris Perry Melson.

On August 13, 1966, he was united in marriage to Polly Ann Harville, who survives.

Mr. Melson worked in the shipping department at Selmer Apparel. He enjoyed watching tv, watching deer in the yard, and riding around in his little red truck. He loved taking care of his dog, Tinkie. Hershel was a member of Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Savannah, Tennessee.

Hershel Taft Melson departed this life on February 9, 2025 in Jackson, Tennessee, at the age of 86 years, 6 months, and 8 days.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Polly Ann Melson; sister, Barbara Melson; nieces, Heather Magness, Rita Dethridge, and Angela Dixon; nephews, Jeremy Harville, Michael Harville, Shane Dickerson, and Chris Harville; brother in law, Rocky Harville; and a host of extended family, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Hershel was preceded in death by his brother, JR Melson; sister, Marie Dickerson; and brothers in law, Louis Harville and Robert "Bud" Harville.
