Hershel Essary

March 29, 1919 — March 27, 2006

He was born in Chester County the son of the late Will and Ella Snider Essary. He attended school in the Roby Community of Chester County. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII; with the 91st. Quartermaster Cav Platoon participated in the American armed forces buildup in England prior to the European invasion in June 1944. His unit was involved in the advance through Belgium toward Germany. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and the Normandy invasion. He was also part of the American Army’s penetration to Pidzen in former Czechoslovakia. He was married to Sue Rhodes in 1947. They made their home in Henderson. He owned and operated Essary Barber Shop; Essary’s Florist and served as V.P. of Henderson Stamping. He also owned several pieces of Real Estate in Henderson. Mr. Essary was a member of the First Baptist Church and a forty seven year member of the Lion Club and an active member of the V.F.W.



He is survived by his wife Sue Rhodes Essary of Henderson; four daughters Judy Austin and husband Mike of Atlanta, GA, Linda Hutcherson of Henderson, Joy Burns and husband Tony of Henderson and Betty Porter and husband Jimmy of Henderson; five grandchildren Jim Austin, Jill Barr, Clay Porter, Kevin Porter and Macy Burns; and six great grandchildren Taylor Patterson, Dillon Patterson, Zack Austin, Jessica Barr, Callan and Brent Austin.
