Herbert Phillips, 81, of Bolivar, died Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at Forest Cove Nursing Home in Jackson.
A farmer and truck driver, he also worked for a time at Howell Sawmill. Mr. Phillips was born June 2, 1924 in Fayette County, Tenn., son of the late Noah and Mattie Lou Walk Phillips and lived in this area most of his life. He served in the U. S. Army and was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.
Services were 1:00 PM Saturday, December 17, 2005 at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel in Bolivar with Trent Coker and Dr. Maurice Hollingsworth officiating. Burial was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery near Whiteville.
He is survived by three daughters, Mary Lou Wilson of Jackson, Virginia Hyslip of Conway, Ark. and Diane Lenhardt of Middleton; one son, Robert Earl Phillips of Covington; two sisters, Elizabeth Sales of Memphis and Lurleen Scates of Henderson; four brothers, Tommy Phillips of Toone, George T. Phillips of Whiteville, Gene Phillips and Noah Phillips, Jr., both of Bolivar; 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
