Herbert Earl Moore, Sr., 73, of Middleton, died Friday, June 23, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.
A native of Vildo, he grew up in Mercer, the son of Davis and Mary Phillips Moore. He married Elizabeth Louise Kelley on August 8, 1953 and was a 22-year veteran of the U. S. Army, having served in Korea and Vietnam. After returning to Hardeman County in 1974, he joined Hebron Baptist Church where he served actively as chairman of the ushers and as a Deacon until his death. He loved to fish and hunt.
In addition to his wife, who survives, he leaves one son, Herbert Earl Moore, Jr. of Jackson; two daughters, Denise Howell of Bolivar and Jo Ann Clifton of Brownsville; one sister, Dorothy Spain of Jackson; one brother, Rev. Calvin Moore of Jackson; four grandchildren, Kim and Jimmy Howell, Andy Ervin and Laura Clifton; and four great-grandchildren, Kamryn, Brianna, Trey and Perry. He was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Revell and brother, Eugene Moore.
