Helen Marie Phillips Springer, age 82 of Selmer, TN, died April 5, 2015, after a brief illness. She was born in Adamsville, TN, on September 16, 1932, to the late Dock and Hazel Phillips. She was the widow of Kenneth Springer.
She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Manley (Bruce) of Selmer and Debbie Sue Nerren (Harold) of Jackson, TN and 4 grandchildren: Christy Doyle (Jeremy) of Selmer, Kelly Barnes (David) of Jackson, Nick Nerren of Nashville, and Daniel Roten (Joni) of Las Vegas, NV; also an adopted granddaughter, Shawna Roten; and 4 great-grandchildren: Springer Doyle,
Anne Marie Doyle, Bryant Barnes, and Elizabeth Sue Barnes.
Helen was a Bookkeeper at City Lumber Company for many years, and a Pink Lady at the McNairy General Hospital, volunteering over 4,000 hours. She was a very active member of First United Methodist Church in Selmer. She, Kenneth and the girls traveled while he served in the USAF for over 20 years, living in bases in Wyoming, Florida, Mississippi and Turkey. They moved back to Selmer in 1969. She loved cooking, traveling, reading and her dog Gracie.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 from 6 pm until 8 pm, and funeral services on Wed at 11 am, all held at Shackelford Funeral Home in Selmer, TN (731)645-3481
