Helen Harding

Mrs. Helen Harding, 88, of Toone, passed away Thursday morning, January 7, 2021 at her home.

She was born February 5, 1932, in Hardeman County, daughter of the late Elon and Ina Pirtle Tyson and lived most of her life here. She also lived for many years in Memphis and, from 1974-1990, in Taylor, MS.

United in marriage to Harry Floyd Harding on October 18, 1949, they were married for 62 years at the time of his passing on March 28, 2012. A homemaker, Mrs. Harding was a 1949 graduate of Bolivar Central High School and member of Bolivar First Baptist Church. She had formerly been a member of Anchor Baptist Church in Taylor, MS.

She is survived by daughter, Pat (Phil) Slaughter of Toone; son, Ricky DeWayne Harding of Toone; sister, Hazel Simmons of Toone; brother, Bobby (Adah) Tyson of Toone, five grandchildren, Megan Rae Marcellini, Anna Lynn Nelling, Travis Scott Riddle, Amy Rochelle Capo and Caleb Andrew Riddle Slaughter; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Harding was preceded in death by daughter, Brenda Joyce Riddle (2003) and brother, Billy Joe Tyson (2020).

* Maintain 6 feet between yourself and the next closest person;
* Refrain from hugs and handshakes;
* When you sneeze or cough, use your elbow to cover your nose and mouth;
* Wash your hands often;
* Avoid touching your face; and
* Minimize time spent in places where people gather.
