Mrs. Freeland died early Friday morning, July 20, 2007 at St. Frances Hospital in Memphis.
The daughter of the late Curtis Willard Vaughan and Louise Morrow Vaughan, she lived in Fayette Corners all of her married life prior to moving to Whiteville eleven years ago. She was the widow of Robert Davis 'Jack' Freeland, who died in 1996 and was a homemaker, former music teacher and organist. She was active in the DAR, InterSe Club and Whiteville Friendship Club and graduated UT Knoxville where she was in the Kappa Delta sorority. She was a member and organist for 53 years of Whiteville First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Randy Freeland Shephard of Germantown; three sisters, Jane Tracy of Orlando, Fla., Pat Clifft of Bolivar and Marilyn Ayers of Lenoir City, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Lee Lynn Campbell of Bolivar, Leslie Henderson of Collierville, Rob Whitlow of Olive Branch, Miss., Laura Page, Rachel Thompson and Jimmy Shephard, all of Brentwood, TN; eleven great granchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Fryer and a brother, Curtis Willard Vaughan, Jr.
