Hazel Watkins

Hazel Crowley Watkins died Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.



The wife of Malcolm T. Watkins, who survives, she was a homemaker and had worked at Hardeman Garment, Kilgore and as a nurse’s aide at the Care Inn. Mrs. Watkins was born November 6, 1921 in Hardeman County, daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Hanna and Daisy Nell Baker Hanna. She lived here all of her life and loved gardening and flowers. Mrs. Watkins was a member of Hebron Baptist Church and attended Middleburg Baptist Church.



Services were 1:00 PM Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel with Ricky Watkins officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery near Bolivar.



In addition to her husband, whom she married in July 1979, survivors include three daughters, Mary Nell Walker of Stewart, Tenn., Stella Pierce of Medon, Geraldine Nuckolls of Bolivar; two sons, Bobby Crowley of Middleton and Hugh Crowley of Hickory Valley; one step-daughter, Sue Woodard of Bolivar; four step-sons, Wayne and Jimmy Watkins, both of Bolivar, Eddie Watkins of Murfreesboro and Ricky Watkins of Hickory Valley; three sisters, Wynell Nickols of Memphis, Clara Butler of Peoria, Ill. and Freddie Battle of Ill.; one brother, Harold Hanna of NC; 39 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren. In addition to her first husband, Robert Crowley, who died in 1956, she was preceded in death by one son, Willie Crowley; three grandchildren, Chris Puckett, Todd Pierce and Cary Nuckolls and three sisters, Evelyn Mehardy, Stella Rogers and Jozue Jones.
