Hazel Maxwell Stegall went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Pine Meadows Healthcare in Bolivar.
Hazel was retired from Lockheed-Martin where she was employed for 34 years. She later went to work for a local physician, in Ft. Worth, where she was employed for 5 years.
Hazel was born on November 1, 1923, in Memphis, TN, to Lotta and James Maxwell. She was a graduate of Messick High School in Memphis and attended Sanford University in Birmingham, AL. She married Robert E. Stegall on September 5, 1942, who after 4 years in the military, went on to become a Baptist Minister. She enjoyed the role of being a Pastor's wife and served faithfully in any capacity where she was needed. She taught all ages in Sunday School from Beginners to Senior Adult. Also, she was a member of the American Business Women's Association. After the death of her husband in 1963, she became a member of the Travis Avenue Baptist Church, where she taught the Carnett Class for many years. She presently was a member of Connell Baptist Church.
She is survived by two grandsons, Robert E. Stegall, III, and his wife, Donna, of Dallas, TX and Christopher Maxwell Stegall of Round Rock, IL; daughter-in-law, Dorie Von Bargen and her husband, Fred, of Round Rock, IL; granddaughter, Kristin Jean Copetta of Palm Beach, FL; two great-granddaughters, Alexandria and Jessica Stegall, both of Dallas, TX; a great-grandson, John Copetta of Palm Beach, FL; her sister, Shirley Patterson and her husband, Jerry, of Hickory Valley, TN; and her best friends, Deloris Deleon, Doug Estes, Melba Martin, Carolyn Coggin and a host of other friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert E. Stegall, Jr.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the coming weeks for Mrs. Stegall at the Connell Baptist Church, 4736 Bryce Avenue, Ft. Worth, TX 76107.
