Hattie Clay Melton

She was born September 15, 1929 and passed away May 8, 2009 at Henderson County Community Hospital in Lexington at the age of 79 years.She was born in Henderson County, the daughter of the late Arthur and Elsie Laster Harrington. She attended schools in Chester County and was married to Clarence Melton February 22, 1946. They made their home in the Jacks Creek Community. She worked for her brother Lanois at Harrington Grocery for many years and later owned and operated Melton Grocery Store at Jacks Creek. She was a member of the Johnson Crossroads Primitive Baptist Church for sixty years. Mr. Melton died in 1995.She is survived by two sons, Terry Melton and wife Brenda of Lexington and Jerry Melton and wife Bobbie of Brownsville; two grandchildren, Teri Vaughn and Christopher Scott Melton; four great grandchildren, Kirstie Desizlets, Brianna Vaughn, Bailey Melton and Noah Melton.
