Dr. Harvey Haywood Barham, age 85, of Bolivar, Tennessee, passed away November 29, 2010.
He is credited with delivering over five decades of family medical care in Hardeman County. A former chief of staff and board member of Bolivar General Hospital, Dr. Barham also served on the Hardeman County Health Department Board of Directors and as county coroner. He was a past-president of the Bolivar Medical Dental Arts Corporation and the Consolidated Medical Assembly of West Tennessee. He was a lifetime member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He served as a medical corpsman with the U.S. Marines in the Pacific Theater during the height of World War II. Dr. Barham served as deacon emeritus, Bolivar First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Opha Siler Barham of Madison County, his first wife, June Adams Barham, a son, Harvey Barham, Jr., and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife, Martha Barham; one daughter, Donna (Lloyd) Emmons of Smithville, Tenn., and four sons, Mike (Laurie) Barham of Lebanon, Ohio, Steven ( Lori) Marberry of Dyersburg, son Scott (Laura) Barham of Naples, Fla., Phillip Barham of Jackson; four sisters, Rebecca Porter of Henderson, Helen Merwin and Dot (Jerry) Carr of Franklin, Patty (Larry) Kling of Rocklin, Calif.; grandchildren Lt. Scott Emmons, Ft. Sill, Okla., Tyler Emmons, Smithville, Adam Barham, Colorado, Amber (T.J.) Bain, Jackson, Abby Barham, Lebanon, Ohio, Kayla Marberry, Murfreesboro, Londyn Vaughn, Dyersburg, Jennifer and Miranda Hickle, Naples, Fl., Daniel, Reagan and Katherine Barham of Jackson; great-grandchildren Chandler Barham and Alton Bain; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
