Harry Lee Dacus

Mr. Dacus died Thurs., Sept. 27 at Baptist-DeSoto Hospital in Southaven, Miss.



The widower of Mary Frances Dacus, who died in 1982, he was a carpenter. He was born in Stanton, son of the late Lewis and Emma Goff Dacus and lived all of his life here. He served in the US Army during World War II and was a specialist as a .50 caliber machine gunner, receiving five battle stars and participating in Normandy, D-Day and marching to Berlin. Mr. Dacus was a member of the local VFW Post.



Survivors include two daughters, Nora Lee Noel of Southaven, Miss., and Barbara Fernell of Marina, Calif.; two sons, Rick Dacus of Jackson and Billy Dale Dacus of Michigan City, Miss.; three sisters, Mable Hopper of Bolivar, Janie Dacus of Bolivar and Irene Houston of Germantown; three brothers, James, William and Coleman Dacus, all of Bolivar; 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.



In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Helen Simmons and Glenda Newman; a son, Randy Dacus and two brothers, Leroy and Herbert Dacus.
