HAROLD WAYNE SMITH
Finger, TN: Harold Dewayne Smith age 84 passed away Sunday evening October 9, 2016 at the Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born June 1, 1932 in Chester County, the son of the late Cleatus Banford and Mary Lou Bullman Smith. He went to school at Phillips School House. Mr. Smith had farmed all his life and did logging when he got the crops laid by. He married Norma Jean Wade in 1953 and they made their home at Montezuma for two years and at Finger since 1958. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1952 and served two tours overseas aboard the USS Hollister 788. He returned in 1956.
He farmed, and raised cows and hay in the Finger Community. He loved to coon hunt, bird hunt and loved riding horses in the area saddle clubs. He was a member of the First Baptist Church at Finger.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Wade Smith of Finger; a daughter, Kellie Barnes and husband Michael of Finger; three sons, Steve Smith and wife Connie of Finger, Jeff Smith and wife Sheila of Henderson and Mark Smith of Bethel Springs; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren and one sister, Jerelene McNeil of Henderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, C.B. Smith, Jr. and four sisters, Betty Weaver, Mary Jo Howell, Maurene Ward and Marie Smith.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Bro. Bobby Bray and Bro. Ronnie Geary officiating. Burial will follow in Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Tuesday.
