Harold Wayne Montgomery, 78 died peacefully February 6, 2016. Harold was born in Decatur County TN to the late Guy Emery & Grace Maness Montgomery and attended local schools. He married Imalee Brasher in 1955 and they were joined by their only child, a daughter, Sheila Gaye. This small family moved to Henderson in the early sixties, to be near the cotton trucking business.
Harold was an owner operator for several years and eventually built a small fleet as well as a brokerage business. He worked long hours to build a successful business and to provide for his family. Always an early riser, he strived to get as much done as possible each day.
Having been brought up on a farm, he enjoyed raising cattle through the years. He often attended and once owned a cattle auction.
Many titles come to mind when thinking of Harold: son, brother, husband, father, business owner, Christian… but the title he was most proud of was “Big Daddy!” His heart burst with love and pride when granddaughter Courtney was born and then doubled a few years later, with Kendyl’s birth.
Harold and Imalee enjoyed their membership at Grace Baptist Church and were pleased to see the church’s humble beginnings from a storefront church to the beautiful facility being built near Pinson.
Harold and Imalee shared 60 years of marriage, most of that time spent working together daily. Imalee was a devoted, dedicated, loving partner. Harold leaves his beloved daughter, Sheila (Billy Joe) and precious granddaughters, Courtney (Jason) and Kendyl (Jerod). His only brother, Larry survives, as well.
While our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort in II Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
Memorials can be made in Harold’s name to Chester County Relay For Life C/O Renee Phelps Clayton Bank POB 226 Henderson, TN 38340 or Grace Baptist Building Fund POB 298, Henderson.
A celebration of life service will be at Casey Chapel Tuesday February 9th @ 11AM. Burial will follow in Chester County Memory Gardens.
Dear friends Bro. Mike Rickenbaker and Bro. Ken Kitchen will honor Harold’s life.
