Guy Newman

Guy “Pete” Newman, 85, of Hornsby, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Bolivar General Hospital.



The widower of Elizabeth Hodge Newman, who died in 1994, he was a farmer and former truck driver. Mr. Newman was born May 12, 1921 in Chester County, son of the late William Otto Newman and Inez Casey Newman and made his home in Hornsby in 1937. He was a member of Hatchie Baptist Church and his family stated that he was a “good neighbor who helped with his farm those in need”.



Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Carolyn Bearden of Iuka, Ms and Reba Hopper of Memphis; a son, Bobby Newman of Selmer; two sisters, Kathleen Hindman of Bolivar and Nellie Sue Hollie of Memphis; two brothers, Clifford Leon Newman of Finger and Billy Fred Newman of Montezuma; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Guy Earl Newman and brother, Willie Earl Newman.
