Mr. Bennett passed away Saturday morning at his home in Pocahontas.
The husband of Judy J. Bennett, who survives, he was the retired owner of Universal Printing and Design Company. He was born January 25, 1928, in Marked Tree, Ark., to Thomas Simpton Bennett and Lillie Mae Walker Bennett, both of whom preceded him in death and lived in Memphis for 10 years before moving to Hardeman County. He served in the US Navy for 9 months and in the US Army for 8 years and was a member of the American Legion Post #198 in Middleton. Mr. Bennett was a Baptist, and a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, whom he married on July 13, 1965, survivors include two sons, Glenn Alan Bennett of Atoka and Gregary Lynn Bennett of Munford; three brothers, J. W. Bennett of Memphis, Ralph Jefferson Bennett of Salina, Kansas and Paul Ray Bennett of Earl, Ark.; a sister, Ona Mae Smith of Memphis; four grandchildren, Heather Bond Pool, Amanda Gayle Bennett, Gregary Kyle Bennett and Molly Luanna Street; and two great grandchildren, Kyleigh Elizabeth Street and Cadi Jean Street. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 17 brothers and sisters.
