Grover Atkinson

Grover Atkinson was born July 1, 1931 in Hardeman County, Tennessee the son of the late Jessie Thermon and Nellie Louise Hodge Atkinson.
He was united in marriage to Frances Goodrum on October 18, 1952.
Mr. Atkinson was a master carpenter by trade, and later retired from Dover Elevator in Middleton. He and his wife Frances also owned G & F Portrait and Frame Shop in Selmer. Mr. Atkinson was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country during the Korean Conflict. He attended the Piney Grove church of God, and was a loving and devoted husband and father.
Mr. Atkinson departed this life on September 22, 2009 at his home in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 78 Years, 2 Months, 21 Days. He is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Frances Goodrum Atkinson of Selmer, TN; a daughter, Brenda Moffett and husband O'Neal of Selmer, TN; a son, Ronnie Atkinson and wife Kelly of Selmer, TN; four grandchildren: Seandee Nash and husband Milton, Ronnie Neal Atkinson and wife Hope, Derek Moffett, and Andrew Atkinson; 5 great-grandchildren: Marcus Nash, Mollie Nash, Will Moffett, Elizabeth Atkinson, and Elyse Atkinson;2 step-grandchildren: Kim Manns and husband Kyle and Reggie Moffett and wife Amy; 5 step-great-grandchildren: Clint Manns, Corey Manns, Destiny Moffett, Kristin Moffett, and Keely Moffett; six sisters: Mary Ann Luker and husband James of Mobile, AL, Madge Newsom of Monroe, LA, Joyce Darlene Hamm and husband Jim of Collierville, TN, Rachel King and husband Lonnie of Selmer, TN, Janie Taylor of Selmer, TN, and Freda Smith and husband Kevin of Selmer, TN; two brothers: T. L. Atkinson and wife Fannie of Selmer, TN and Rex Atkinson and wife Donna of Selmer, TN; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Atkinson was preceded in death by a brother, Tunnie Joe Atkinson, and a sister, Dorene Atkinson.
