Gregory Barlow Willoughby was born September 15, 1962 in Hardin County, Tennessee the son of Peggy Barlow Winborn and the late Gene Willoughby.
Greg a lifelong Hardin Countian had a great passion for the river. He had worked on the towboat the majority of his life. He was a Chief Engineer for ARTCO 4 1/2 years and previously for Alton Barge Line for 27 years. During his time off of the boat he enjoyed spending time at his river lot with his family and friends. He also enjoyed farm work, riding motorcycles, and NASCAR. Greg was a member of the Tennessee River Lodge #102, F & AM (Masonic Lodge), and attended Hopewell Baptist Church. He was a wonderful daddy, son, brother, friend, and uncle. He always made sure that those in need were taken care of and was loved by many of his friends.
Greg departed this life on February 9, 2012 in at the age of 49 Years, 4 Months, 25 Days.
Greg is survived by his mother, Peggy Barlow Winborn of Adamsville, Tennessee; son, Wade Willoughby of Savannah, Tennessee; daughter, Twylla Berry of Savannah, Tennessee; brothers, Jeff Willoughby and Ricky Willoughby both of Savannah, Tennessee; sisters, Patty Willoughby Hooper of Toone, Tennessee and Mary Beth Franks of Savannah, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews, Casey Willoughby of Jackson, Tennessee, Cody Willoughby of Savannah, Tennessee, Sarah Morton of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Bethany Willard of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Taylor Clark of Dyersburg, Tennessee, and Meranda Willoughby of Savannah, Tennessee; influential people in his life, Jerry and Myra Robinson, Emm and Vicki Blount; several good friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by nephew, Cpl. Keith Eric Essary.
