Memphis, TN

Gregory Lee Foote, born on December 8, 1961, in Corinth, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at his home in Memphis, Tennessee, on December 30, 2024, with his loving wife Cathy by his side. He was an admired member of his community and a cherished figure within his family.

Greg devoted 20 years to his career as a skilled welder for Connelly in Memphis until the business closed. His dedication to his craft was evident, and he approached his work with pride and excellence. He graduated from McNairy Central High School in Selmer and further honed his welding skills at what was then known as Crump Vocational Center.

Beyond his professional life, Greg was known for his rich array of hobbies and interests. He was not only a gifted guitarist but also enjoyed playing the saxophone. His love for music was matched by his enthusiasm for gaming, and he was notably a jokester, bringing laughter and joy to those around him, particularly through his playful interactions with his beloved wife Cathy that often bordered on aggravation. He loved spending his days with her.

Greg was a man who shared his faith at every opportunity. He was a devoted member of the Forrest Hill Church of Christ in Memphis and loved his church family dearly. He and Cathy shared a cherished tradition of enjoying frozen yogurt every Wednesday night after church. Additionally, Greg took great pleasure in visiting his mother-in-law, Betty Eaker, showing his love and commitment to family.

He leaves behind his children, John Michael Williams and wife Sarah and LaToshia Cox and husband Josh, along with seven beloved grandchildren: Joseph Williams and wife Casey, Aidan Cox, Emily Price, Huntlei Williams, Ali Barnes, Ashlyn Morgan, and JoJo Morgan. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Katiebug and Jaxton McAfee. Greg is remembered fondly by his special cousin Mark Foote, as well as his niece, Brenna Hill and husband Ernesto, and nephew, Dillon Foote. A host of extended family and friends also mourn his loss.

Greg was predeceased by his parents, Buddy and Myra Roberts Foote, and his brother, Jimmy Foote. These family ties shaped the loving person he became and the legacy he leaves behind.

Gregory Lee Foote will be fondly remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his loving spirit, and his unwavering dedication to his family and faith. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Memorials may be made to the Memphis School of Preaching.
