Graple Hampton, 77, of Bolivar, died Monday, October 16, 2006 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The wife of Roscoe E. Hampton, who survives, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Hampton was born February 25, 1929 in Hardeman County, daughter of the late William Alexander “Alex†Carter and Dessie Ethel King Carter and lived here all of her life. She was a member of Bolivar First Baptist Church.
Services were 2 pm Thursday, October 19, 2006 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel with Orville McMahan officiating. Burial was in Bolivar Memorial Cemetery.
In addition to her husband, whom she married January 25, 1951, survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Phyllis & Ronnie Grantham and Donna & Don Bomar, all of Bolivar, Cathy & Billy Rider of Florence, Alabama; three sisters, Lennie Cleek of Trenton, Pearl Frye of Jackson and Opal Lacroix of Shelbyville; three brothers, Raymond Carter of Medon, Leroy Carter of Toone and Billy Ray Carter of Medon; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Tyler Bomar and sister, Ruth Davis.
