Gracie Gertrude Earnest

October 12, 1934 — March 7, 2009

Mrs. Earnest passed away Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Bolivar General Hospital.



The daughter of the late Oscar and Lilly Dixon Holloway, she was born in Corinth and moved to Hardeman county after she married Mr. J. C. Earnest over 60 years ago. She was a faithful member of the Middleton 1st United Pentecostal Church. She was noted for being an outstanding cook and devoted mother. For 20 years, she was employed at the Middleton High School cafeteria.



She leaves as her survivors her husband, J. C. Earnest of Middleton, two sons, David Earnest and wife, Doris of Walnut, MS and Danny Earnest and wife, Tammy of Ripley, MS; two grandchildren, Wayne and Jessie Michelle Earnest; one great-grandchild, Shannon Earnest; and a special niece. Jeannette Shumake of Middleton.



In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters and brothers: Beatrice Tipler and Edna Hodge; Claude Lee, Howard and Halford Holloway.
