Grace Clampitt Wilkes, age 85, formerly of Memphis and Whiteville, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2008 at Arbor Village Rehab and Nursing Center in Wildwood, Florida.The widow of Emery Lofton Wilkes, who preceded her in death January 2, 2003, she was a retired certified dental assistant. She was born January 5, 1923 to the late Henry Hilton and Darthula Rodgers Clampitt in Whiteville, moved to Memphis in 1954 and 50 years later, in 2004, she moved to Florida. She was a member of the Memphis and Tennessee Dental Assistant Association. She was a member of the Raleigh United Methodist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Regina Towle and Glynda Jones of The Villages, FL, and Joyce Schiller of Concord, NH; one son, Don Wilkes of The Villages, FL; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, whom she married December 14, 1940, she is preceded in death by a sister, Marie Hyneman, and a brother, James Clampitt.
