Gordon Smalley
August 11, 1934 — November 2, 2016
Mr. Smalley died Wednesday morning at Bells Nursing and Rehab Center.
He was a native of Middleton having lived all of his life in Hardeman County. His parents were the late Rudell Lee and Dempie Ehrett Smalley and on September 5, 1954, he was united in marriage to Louise Grantham. Mrs. Smalley passed away November 27, 2000.
From 1952-1958, Mr. Smalley served his country in the Tennessee National Guard. He was raised as a member of the Church of Christ, worked 14 years for Gene Howell and for over 30 years was the owner and operator of Gordon's Food Market. In his leisure time, Gordon enjoyed woodworking, traveling and studying history.
He leaves his daughter, Tina Anderson (Ricky) of Medon; his sons, Hugh Smalley (Betsy) of Nashville and Gene Smalley of Whiteville; his five grandchildren, Mary Claire, Katie, Rachel, Haley and Lindsey; and his two great-grandchildren, Leah and Maya.
