GORDON HARRIS
Medon, TN: Gordon Alvis Harris age 88 passed away October 9, 2019 at his home.
He was born May 25, 1931 at Silerton and reared in Silerton and Medon, the son of the late Alvis D. and Ophie May Miller Harris. He went to school at Malesus. He married Doris Arnold in 1950. They made their home in Memphis. Mr. Harris professional career was with Wonder Bread and Hostess Cake where he started in route sales, supervisor, sales manager, and his last title was general sales manager, of the Memphis operation covering part of six states.
Mr. Harris retired in 1993 and they made their home in Medon.
He served as an alderman for the city of Medon and was instrumental in the development of Medon Public Park. He served as a deacon at Clover Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. Harris is survived by his wife of 69 years, Doris Ann Arnold Harris of Medon; two sons, Steve Harris and wife Marlyce of Jackson and Jeff Harris and wife Dana of Medon and a daughter, Karen Sorrell and husband Dewayne of Memphis; twelve grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Harris.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jerry Gordan Harris; a brother, G.W. Harris and a sister, Hazel Hill.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, at Clover Creek Baptist Church, with Terry Acred and Ken Skeleton officiating. Burial will follow in Clover Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at 12 noon Tuesday at the church.
