Gola Armour Shelton, 98, educator, passed away at home July 7, 2008.
Daughter of the late C. J. (Cull) and Ada Gee Armour, she was born in the Woodville community of Chester County on September 6, 1909. She graduated from Middleton High School in 1929 and from Freed-Hardeman and Union University. Her husband, James William Shelton, whom she married February 14, 1943, preceded her in death October 10, 1979.
For 40 years she taught school at Hornsby, Silerton and Woodville and after moving to Memphis, she taught at Frayser and Corning Elementary Schools. She attended Middleton church of Christ.
Her survivors include a son, James R. (Dick) Shelton and daughter-in-law Winola Shelton of Bolivar, TN; a brother, Gordon Armour of Millington, TN; a host of nieces and nephews and her special caregiver, Vera Lewis of Bolivar, TN.
